life in all its glory

the results are in!

on January 27, 2013

Remember I said I was going to keep track of the profiles I came across to figure out whether or not I was too picky? Well, I kept track of 100 profiles. It’s a mixture of men that contacted me and profiles I clicked on.

I guess if you look at the numbers, it may seem as though I am picky. But you know what? I don’t care anymore. I am AWESOME and I deserve to be with somebody that’s just as awesome as I am. There are many things that are important to me and I will not lower my standards for the sake of not being single.

Out of the 100 profiles I came across, I was interested in 27. I thought I’d make this legit and make some graphs.

I tried to keep track of the reasons as to why I was uninterested.

I don’t understand why some people just don’t put effort into their profiles. Simply saying “if you have any questions, just ask!” Ugh, so annoying. Another top reason is what I classified as “meh.” I know it doesn’t explain much but it means that there was nothing that stuck out to me and I was uninterested in them. Politically, I’m super liberal so being with somebody that’s conservative will not work for me. I’m deathly allergic to cats so being with somebody that has them is out of the question.

I’m not going to bore all of you and explain all of the reasons why I wasn’t interested in the men.

Does this mean I’m too picky? Maybe. Should I feel bad for it? Hell no.

This is amazing. Stats and graphs are sexy.

Somebody can be rejected for being too attractive? πŸ˜›

Maybe if you’re representative of women on online dating those numbers make complete sense. As about 25-30% of girls reply to my messages. and you’re interested in 27% of profiles.

i’m glad you enjoyed it! I actually had fun keeping track and making graphs, if only there was something else I could get statistics for.

And yes, somebody can be rejected for being too attractive haha. Is that weird??

  2. Debby says:

I don’t think you’re too picky at all! if you would ask 100 women to keep track of their online dating thoughts, their results would pretty much reflect the same thing πŸ™‚

  3. misswhiplash says:

No you are not being too picky! if you are considering spending the rest of your life with someone you have to make sure that its the right person…Somebody the other day mentioned that we give more attention to buying a car than we do to prospective relationships….so be fussy, you are worth someone really just have to find him.
There are a couple of really super-duper men on WordPress but unfortunately they are very happily that’s out…just keep looking and you will find him

    • dsantos85 says:

I actually wrote a post about the whole car thing. It makes me happy that you’re keeping up with my posts πŸ™‚

I won’t give up, I’ll find somebody eventually and I won’t lower my standards either.

thank you for the kind words

  4. suburbangirl4love says:

Hahah why haven’t I done this yet! Don’t worry it’s totally normal my graph would probably be: interested… 10. Uninterested… 90. I’ve just decided I only want to really get to know the guy’s I feel have similar interests and of course a certain level of attraction needs to be there. Can you please send the cat lover guys my way though?! Oh and please check out my blog to read about my dating stories. πŸ™‚

    • dsantos85 says:

haha. i’m glad you enjoyed my statistics and charts! If I could send the cat lovers your way, I totally would.

Just subscribed to your blog πŸ˜€ looking forward to your posts.

  5. Summer says:

Not picky at all! If your selection is anything close to as bad as what I’m seeing in Cleveland, 27/100 is amazing. I’m lucky to find 1/200 worth talking with.

There’s no excuse for putting no effort into your profile and the messages you send to others. If you’re really looking for “the one,” I’d assume you’d bother writing more than just “Hey. Nice pics. Wanna talk?”

    • dsantos85 says:

some of those first messages are AWFUL! I’m glad I’m not the only one that hates it. haha

Thanks for subscribing to my blog. I’m looking forward to reading your posts. πŸ˜€

  6. Sorry I have not cheked in lately. Just wanted to say that I laughed out loud a couple of times here. The category ‘meh’ especially made me laugh.

How are things with Mr CC by the way? (apologies if you have mentioned anything in the comments, I am at work so reading quickly).

    • dsantos85 says:

i’ve been waiting to post something about Mr. C&C because I’m extremely frustrated with him haha. I’ll be posting something right now though! It’s time to get it out πŸ™‚

Also, I’m glad you enjoyed my post! I really like the idea of keeping track of something and then making a graph except now I don’t know what else I can track. If you have any ideas, let me know!

  7. lovemytivo says:

You did it! 27% seems “not too picky” to me. I have been too busy to keep track lately but I love your reasons chart. Maybe I will try one of those…

  8. Dating 2.0 says:

I love the categories in the second graph. They look so familiar…
